"The most important things in life aren't things."
Dear 16 year old me,

Inspired by this video ( http://www.thatvideosite.com/video/dear_16yearold_me ) I wanted to write a letter to 16 year old self.

Dear 16 year old me,

The career you think you want now is still the perfect career for you. Don’t stop pursuing it. You also think the boy you are dating now is “the one”. He is not. There will be plenty of boys in the next few years that are going to drive you insane. If they don’t commit after a 2 months, they never will. For your sanity, end it. You are also going to make out with some really weird guys and wonder the next day why the hell did you do that. Laugh it off with your friends and move on. Atlantic City seems fun now, but it is very dangerous when it comes to drinking. Its a marathon. not a sprint.

College will be the best/worst 5 years of you life. Yup, you didn’t graduate in 4 but its ok. It happens for a good reason. Even thou you don’t drink now, pizza and beer will be your new favorite things. Jack Daniels will become your abusive husband - you love him so much but he ends up kicking your ass. You are going to lose touch with some of your best friends now. There is a reason why they don’t stay in your life. The optimistic outlook you have on life will not always be there. Not all people are good and not all need to be trusted.

When you are 20 years old, you will lose you best friend in the whole world. With the support of your friends and family, you will get through it and become a stronger person. Don’t be scared to talk about your feelings.

The last thing I want to write to you is don’t be afraid to take chances. Its ok to be the spontaneous person you are. Life is short and its meant to be lived.

Love,

23 year old me

Growing old is mandatory; growing up is optional

ever since I turned 23, I feel extremely old and the future scares me more. It really hit me I was growing up when I was filling out my student teaching application yesterday. this paper marks my last semester as a college student. watching re-runs to Say Yes to the Dress probably doesn’t help either because I am always wondering will I ever get married. I don’t go out as much. I spend most of my days going to school, doing homework, going to the gym, and going to bed at a decent hour. It’s really hard for me to accept the fact Im growing up. It only makes me want to do something crazy or start accomplishing things on my bucket list. Yesterday, I thought about road tripping across the US for about a half hour. I am hopping to make that possible this summer after I graduate. I guess I need to stop looking at my age as a step closer to losing my youth and embrace the future no matter how scary it seems.

My Tampa Get Away

best labor day weekend - ever!

oh the joys of babysitting.
this little munchkin was the only one who listened to me but to be fair she is only 10 months old.
her 4 year old sister told me “sometimes big girls just poop in the pool”. I think its excellent advice.

The Five People You Meet in Heaven

I recently finished the book “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” by Mitch Albom. I really enjoyed this book. It made me wonder if I did meet 5 people in heaven to explain my life and why I lived the life I did, who would those 5 people be? Terry would definitely be one but the other 4 are a mystery to me.

The next book on my list to read is “The Last Lecture”.

Life is crazy

So today I went to Pennsylvania Hospital for my mom’s surgery. To pass time, my dad and I walked around Philly. We talked about all the things we should do one there since Philly has soo much to offer. One thing we really wanted to try was the duck tour. We go back to the hospital to check up on my mom. We see on the news that a barge ran over a duck tour boat. It just blows my mind that around the same time me and my dad talk about doing it, there is an accident.

I start talking to other families that were waiting for their love ones to get out of surgery. This one woman was telling me her and her friend would always go to the pier and have lunch during their lunch break. This one day they decided not to meet up because they were too busy. They see on the news later around their lunch time the pier collapsed.

I repeat, life is crazy.
